Curiosity Gym

STEM for Senior School

1 hour a day | Grades 9-12 | 10 days

OVERVIEW

As a society, we need to continually prepare and solve various global challenges. This interdisciplinary course teaches students to design, develop and test experiments using various modeling and simulation platforms. The applied learning approach enable learners to quickly create virtual learning environments that simulate real-life situations, and most importantly answer the “what if” question, without committing to expensive resources and equipment. This course helps students with an early basic understanding of new fields which  help catalyze interest in the field of STEM and help identify a possible future career path in STEM.

This advanced STEM program is ideal for students with schools and lab facilities closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and who are looking to enhance their knowledge of the different science streams as they approach senior school years prior to college.

TOPICS & PROJECTS

Virtual Physics Lab

Simulate systems of chains, springs, fluids and other mechanisms. Explore phenomenon like gravity, friction, rigid and fluid dynamics. Experiment with optics, pendulums and buoyancy.

Earth & Astronomy

Observe elevation contours and measure specific regions on Earth. Use a virtual planetarium to explore planets, constellations, eclipses, solstices and equinoxes.

Patterns in Nature

Understand how complex systems are formed through the property of emergence. Experiment and simulate natural models such as an ecosystem or the transmission of a virus.

Electronic Circuits

Learn about electronic components like sensors, controllers, rectifiers and Arduino boards. Design your own circuits on an electronics simulator.
